The Death of Peace of Mind: Series Reflections
The creative journey behind "Death of Peace of Mind" has been nothing short of extraordinary. What began as an experiment in gritty, 80s-inspired storytelling evolved into our most explosive series yet, with a community response that's left me genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude.
Pulling back the curtain today, I'm revealing how dramatically the series changed during development. My original plan to kill Black at the Greenbrier house transformed when I realized a more powerful ending was possible—one where Grayson vanishes, completing his cycle, while Black inherits the Greenbrier mantle. This twist represents uncharted territory for me as a storyteller, moving beyond traditional narrative patterns into something more psychologically complex. The music integration, explicit content, and detailed world-building all contributed to creating an authentic thriller experience while maintaining deeper personal development themes.
At its philosophical core, the Greenbrier represents "the mirror that you only see yourself, that no one else sees," forcing characters to confront self-deception and hidden truths. This reflects my belief that genuine personal growth isn't always inspirational quotes and feel-good moments—it's raw, uncomfortable, and sometimes bloody as we break destructive patterns and begin healing. I'm also thrilled to announce our next major series, "The Patients of Predators," followed by themed content for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the holiday season. With over 300 episodes now available, we're creating a storytelling approach to personal development unlike anything else out there. Share this journey with someone who might connect with our unique approach to growth through narrative. Your reality is waiting to be created.
"True mastery is found in the details. The way you handle the little things defines the way you handle everything."
Hello and welcome to the Gentleman's Journey podcast. My name is Anthony, your host, and today we are doing the series review of the Death of Peace of Mind. You know, I gotta just start with this. This literally has been probably the biggest series we've done so far on this channel. I can't tell you how much we just. This has literally exploded. It's unbelievable, and just the support you guys have given this series has been amazing. So I just want to give big, big, big shout out to you guys and with that, so you know, if you okay I'll say this If you haven't listened to the last three episodes, turn this off because there's going to be spoilers and everything else.
Speaker 1:Listen to the last three and then come back to this because there's a lot going on. Okay, you know this series it was such a fun thing to write, but it's also very hard at the same time. What I mean by that is is we were going one way and then just kind of going another way. You know what I mean. And one of the things I really wanted to build in this series was having good partnership, right To where Grayson and Black are partners to the end, and I mean obviously that's a gritty cop drama, you know actually well. Thriller. You know that is 80s, you know you know set in the 80s. But you know I've done things differently in this series, like I added music, even though I couldn't physically add music but because I'd get copyrighted, but I added music it. So if you wanted to listen along, I gave you exactly who the artist was, parts of the song to listen to, the name of it, right, and that's something that was new for me. But that's something you're probably going to see a lot more in other series, especially if they're based around a certain time frame or year or something like that.
Speaker 1:Um, that's, that's one thing. But the other thing too is really diving into broken characters. Because if you think about, like everything we've ever done here, there's always been some succession, right? What I mean by that is, like you know they're coming to be a god or a king or something else, right? Grayson essentially vanishes and dies. That's something I've never done before. And then, on top of that, black becomes the next Greenbrier, she gets chosen, it goes into her. That's something I've never done before. And I know this isn't new or earth-shadowing, I know we've seen these premises before. But I'm going to be honest with you guys.
Speaker 1:How I was originally writing this, just to kind of give you some background, is that he was actually going to kill her at the house, because this house is where it all began for him, right, and that's something if you read in between lines you can kind of tell that right, with the spiral in the mirrors and the fact he says I've sat in that chair before you know, because that's kind of how the transfer happens now, when, when that happens, you know there might be a series coming up here soon that kind of talks more about that. But how this was originally going to be is that he was going to kill her. But I thought what's a better ending for him and for her? That will really be something different, one. We kind of added this metaphysical part to it. So I thought, okay, so if he already sits in the chair and he vanishes, which essentially he dies, right, because essentially it's come full circle and he dies. So the green briar now passes to black and I didn't, you know, I'm like you know what? That's something that is really good and I didn't really come up with that until probably episode, probably five, six, but I was really like I'm she's gonna die like I really was. We were gonna kill, we were gonna kill black. But the more I kept writing or the more I just I just I liked her.
Speaker 1:You know, and I'm like you know what would make this really different, what would make it to where I keep having you guys look left, left, left, left, left, left, left, and then you think that Grayson's the killer, and he is, and you think like they're gonna go in and she's gonna confront him and then that's gonna be it, but no, he vanishes and then she becomes the next Greenbrier. Because, to be honest with you guys, there's so much I know I said this before my last review, but there's so much going on in this series and I know I can start introducing other characters and I just love that. The 80s just gritty, and it's going to be in the 90s too. But since you know they're in 1980, what 8? Now? You know there's a lot of grittiness to everything. So you know, just be aware that there's a very high likelihood that we're going to be going and she's going to be the next Greenbrier and the story might carry on with her. So just be aware that that might happen later next year, because we already have this year, pretty much all said and done.
Speaker 1:But, like I said, it was just such a joy to write this and get in the grittiness of it and really write a true thriller. That had a little bit of swearing, as you can see. You know it had some gory stuff, some very detailed things, but it was a lot of fun, you know, because, to be honest with you guys, when you're writing these kind of stories right, these kind of stories right, one of the hardest things is trying to find a personal development edge to everything. And this really stretched that limit of it. But you know, when the green briar, you know, if you really think about it, the green briar is really just the actions that we don't take. It's really happens and it's kind of like he's your mirror, the mirror that you only see yourself, that no one else sees, and he forces you to come to grips with the lies you either tell yourself, or the truth that you want to hide or mask. That's what he does. He unmasks all that and makes you really raw and uncomfortable. But that's personal development, personal, like real personal development is raw, it's, it's visceral, it's. Sometimes it can get really bloody, because the bloody part is, you got to stop beating yourself up and you got to start healing right and then you got to start moving forward. That's really what personal development is. It's just taking. I mean, if you look at any book, any guru, it really comes down to these three things Taking action, taking control of your thoughts and giving everything 100%. That is personal development really in a nutshell. You know what I mean, and they're just going to give you tips and tricks and ways to kind of do those things. But that's pretty much personal development. So you know I do personal development differently. Obviously, here at Gents Journey we're now very story-driven and everything else, and again, I just want to. You know it's something I love doing and I just appreciate your guys' support. I just can't thank you so much for that.
Speaker 1:So now let's talk about what's going to happen next. So the next series oh my gosh, I'm so excited. It's going to be the Patients of Predators. It's going to knock your socks off. If you liked this, you're going to love the Patients of Predators. It's going to be very gritty. It's going to be very suspenseful. It's going to be very suspenseful. There's going to be a lot of things coming at you, but yeah, patients of Predators is going to be a lot of fun. It's going to be a wild, wild, wild ride. And also, since we're talking about that too, one of the things I wanted to talk about was this Now, this is going to be so patience.
Speaker 1:Predators is gonna be our last series for september. And just remember, october, november, december all those series are going to be one week series, okay. So, beginning october, that's all going to be halloween focused. November is all going to be thanks focused. November is all going to be Thanksgiving focused, and then December is going to be all like Christmas and that kind of holiday focused. Okay. So there may be some funny stuff, there may be some dramatic stuff. We're going to it's going to be a little different, okay, but I'm so excited about, really, let's say that November, december are great, but I love Halloween, I love fall and we're right in the thick of it now. So just get ready to have a lot of fun with these series, because it's going to be a blast.
Speaker 1:So, guys, I rambled on for about 10 minutes and 20 seconds, so I just want to say I appreciate every single one of you for listening to this podcast, give me your support and messaging me, it just means the absolute world to me. So, if you want to support this series or I should say this series, this show it's so simple and so easy and it doesn't cost you anything. It takes literally seconds to do. You just got to do two things. One like this leave a review. That would be amazing. Reviews help out a lot, but the biggest thing you could do is share this to somebody. Share this with a family member or a friend.
Speaker 1:Okay, we got over 300 episodes. Nobody's doing it like this. We got a ton of stuff out there. You know what is it? I think if you start from episode one to like right now, it's like three or four days of just me talking back and forth straight through. So there's a lot out there. Okay, like I said, no one's pushing out daily content like us and really no one has a support system like ours, you know, or the community, I should say like us.
Speaker 1:So, again, so if you want to contact me since I just got off track there, sorry you want to contact me. It's super. There's three ways.
